Are Sleepless Nights Stealing Your Days?

You lie in bed watching the hours tick by, calculating how little sleep you'll get. Your mind races with bright images and endless internal chatter. You toss and turn. You try everything, but sleep eludes you. The next day, you're exhausted, irritable, and unable to function at your best. When this pattern has been going on for a while, bedtime itself can start to become associated with effort, frustration and being awake.

What If Sleep Could Be Easy Again?

Imagine getting into bed and feeling genuinely sleepy. Your thoughts slow down, your muscles soften, and before you know it, you're asleep. Just like it should be. Then imagine waking up actually refreshed — not groggy, not exhausted, but ready for your day.

The Sleep Restoration Programme is designed to help change the patterns that can keep sleep feeling like something you have to make happen. Using hypnotherapy alongside practical mind-calming techniques, we'll work with the thoughts, feelings and learned responses associated with being awake at night, helping sleep begin to feel more natural again.

What Makes This Approach Different

Unlike generic sleep advice or one-size-fits-all approaches, this programme:

  • Combines hypnotherapy with practical techniques tailored to your sleep patterns

  • Explores the particular thoughts, feelings and habits that may be keeping the pattern going

  • Works with both conscious habits and more automatic responses around sleep

  • Helps you develop a calmer, less effortful response to bedtime

  • Gives you practical techniques you can continue using between and after sessions

Is This Right For You?

This programme may be suitable if you:
  • Have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep

  • Wake up exhausted despite hours in bed

  • Experience racing thoughts or anxiety at bedtime

  • Have tried other approaches without lasting success

  • Would prefer a non-medication approach to improving your sleep

  • Want practical techniques you can continue using yourself

This programme may not be suitable if you:
  • Have untreated sleep apnoea or other medical sleep disorders

  • Are looking for a single-session quick fix

  • Aren't willing to practice simple techniques at home

  • Have a serious or complex mental health condition where hypnotherapy would need to be discussed with your healthcare professional first

Hypnotherapy for sleep FAQs

Q1: How is this different from other approaches?

A: This programme combines hypnotherapy with practical mind-calming techniques to create change at multiple levels. The programme isn't simply about relaxation. We'll explore the particular patterns associated with your sleep and use hypnotherapy alongside practical techniques to help you respond differently at bedtime.

Q2: How does it actually work?

A: We'll identify patterns such as racing thoughts, anticipating another bad night or trying too hard to sleep, and work on developing a calmer automatic response to bedtime.

Q3: What if I've tried everything else?

A: The approach is tailored to the way your particular sleep difficulty operates rather than assuming everyone struggles with sleep for the same reason.

Q4: Can this help with nightmares?

A: Hypnotherapy may also be useful where distressing dreams or nightmares are contributing to disrupted sleep. We can discuss whether this is appropriate for you during the assessment consultation.

Q5: What can I do between sessions?

A: You'll be given simple techniques to practise between sessions, helping you reinforce the work we do together and develop skills you can continue using afterwards.

Q6: Will I only need three sessions?

The programme is structured around three sessions because this gives us time to understand your sleep patterns, work with them and reinforce the changes. For many people this provides a useful framework for improvement, although everyone is different. If it looks as though further support would be helpful, we'll discuss that together rather than automatically adding more sessions.

What To Expect

The programme includes three individual sessions, with each stage building on the previous one.

  • Session 1: Understanding your sleep patterns and beginning the change process. We'll identify your stuck ‘sleep patterns’ and begin changing the responses that may be keeping them going. You'll learn the Jin Shin Jyutsu sleep sequence and install a relaxing 'sleep anchor'.

  • Session 2: Working more deeply with the thoughts, responses and habits relevant to your sleep. We'll continue changing those stuck 'sleep patterns'. You'll also learn self-hypnosis for bedtime relaxation, and practical techniques to calm racing thoughts and prepare you for sleep.

  • Session 3: Strengthening new responses and giving you techniques to continue supporting better sleep. This final session focuses on reinforcing the changes you've made and helping your new sleep responses become more familiar and automatic. Through hypnosis, we'll consolidate the techniques you've learned so they're easier to draw on when you need them.
