These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of hypnotherapy and related therapeutic services by Phillip Evans, trading as Inner Insight Hypnosis Limited ('the Practitioner', 'I', 'me', 'my'), to clients ('you', 'your'). By booking an appointment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms in full.
Inner Insight Hypnosis provides clinical hypnotherapy, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), and related therapeutic services to clients both in person in Staffordshire and online across the UK.
If you are booking on behalf of a minor (under 18), a parent or legal guardian must read and agree to these Terms and Conditions, be present for all sessions, and sign on the minor's behalf.
Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy and is not a substitute for medical treatment, diagnosis, or professional psychiatric care. While many clients experience significant and lasting benefits, it is important that you understand the following:
Hypnotherapy is not a medical treatment and I am not a medical doctor.
Results cannot be guaranteed. Every individual responds differently and outcomes vary.
Hypnosis is a voluntary state; you cannot be made to do or say anything against your will.
You remain conscious, in control, and retain the ability to end a session at any time.
Hypnotherapy works as a collaboration between practitioner and client. Your active engagement and commitment are essential to achieving the best possible outcomes.
If you are currently receiving treatment from a GP, psychiatrist, or other healthcare professional, I request that you inform them you are also seeking hypnotherapy.
I work within the ethical frameworks and codes of conduct set by the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR), the International Hypnotherapy Association (IHA), and the International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnotherapy (ICBCH). I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Before your first session, you will be required to complete an intake/health questionnaire. It is your responsibility to disclose fully and accurately any relevant medical history, mental health conditions, medications, or other information that may affect your suitability for hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy may not be appropriate for certain conditions. In particular, you must inform me if you have or have had any of the following:
Epilepsy or seizure disorder
Schizophrenia, psychosis, or any condition involving dissociation from reality
Clinical depression or active suicidal ideation
Bipolar disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
Any neurological condition
Pregnancy (for certain protocols)
Recent brain trauma
Any other significant physical or mental health condition
I reserve the right to decline to work with a client or to refer them to a more appropriate professional if I believe hypnotherapy is not suitable for their needs or falls outside my scope of competence. In such cases, I will endeavour to provide appropriate signposting.
Appointments may be booked via the website booking system, by telephone, or by email. Bookings are confirmed only once you have received written confirmation from me. By booking an appointment, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.
Sessions are typically delivered in person from my practice in Staffordshire or via Zoom for online consultations. Online sessions require a stable internet connection, a private, quiet space, and access to a device with a camera and microphone. It is your responsibility to ensure your environment is suitable for an online session.
Fees for all services are as stated at the time of booking. Fees are subject to change, and any changes will be communicated in advance.
Payment is due 24 hours before the session (or before the first session of a package of sessions) unless an alternative arrangement has been agreed in writing in advance. Payment may be made by bank transfer or card (cash is acceptable by prior arrangement). Receipts and invoices are available on request.
I require a minimum of 48 hours' notice to cancel or rearrange an appointment. If your appointment falls on a Monday, please cancel by close of business on the preceding Friday.
Cancellations with more than 48 hours' notice: No charge.
Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice: The full session fee may be charged to cover the reserved time.
Non-attendance without notice ('no-shows'): The full session fee will be charged. Future bookings will not be confirmed until any outstanding fees are settled.
I understand that genuine emergencies arise. Where exceptional circumstances apply, I may exercise discretion in individual cases. This is at my sole discretion and does not set a precedent.
Fees for completed sessions are non-refundable. Where a package has been purchased and sessions remain unused at the client's request, these will remain valid for rebooking for up to six months from the original booked session date. Refunds will not be issued where a client has failed to engage with the therapeutic process.
All personal and therapeutic information shared with me is treated with strict confidentiality in accordance with the ethical codes of my professional bodies and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Confidentiality is not absolute. I am legally and ethically required to breach confidentiality in the following circumstances:
If I have serious concerns that you or another person (including a child) is at risk of significant harm.
If I am required to do so by a court order or other legal obligation.
If disclosure is necessary to prevent the commission of a serious crime.
Where it is safe to do so, I will discuss any breach of confidentiality with you before taking action. Any breach will be documented in your client notes.
As part of my ongoing professional development and ethical practice, I access a clinical supervision service. Client information may be discussed in supervision on an anonymised basis. No identifying information will be shared.
I collect and process personal data including contact details, health information, and session notes for the purposes of providing therapy. Your data is held securely and is not shared with third parties except as described in these Terms. You have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of your personal data. Full details are set out in my separate Privacy Policy, available on the website.
To get the most from our work together, I ask that you:
Arrive for sessions punctually. Late arrival may reduce the time available for your session.
Attend sessions sober. Sessions cannot proceed if I believe you are under the influence of alcohol or unprescribed drugs. The full session fee will apply.
Engage actively, fully and honestly with the therapeutic process. Therapeutic outcomes are a collaboration.
Inform me promptly of any changes in your medical condition, medications, or circumstances that may affect the therapy.
Ensure your Zoom environment is suitable for online sessions (private, quiet, stable connection).
Treat the me with courtesy and respect.
The Exam Calm programme is offered to secondary schools and educational settings across the UK. Where services are delivered to educational institutions, the following additional terms apply:
All student participants must have written parental or guardian consent prior to taking part.
A responsible member of staff must be present throughout all sessions delivered on school premises, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
The school or institution is responsible for ensuring that any student for whom hypnotherapy may be contraindicated (e.g. due to a known mental health condition) does not participate without prior discussion with me.
Workshop fees are due within 14 days of the date of invoice, unless agreed otherwise.
Cancellation of a scheduled workshop with less than 5 working days' notice may incur the full workshop fee.
I work within my professional competence at all times. If at any point I consider that your needs fall outside the scope of my practice, or that another professional would be better placed to help you, I reserve the right to end our therapeutic contract and will provide appropriate signposting or referral.
Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy. I do not diagnose medical or psychiatric conditions. If you present with symptoms that suggest an undiagnosed medical or mental health condition, I may advise you to consult your GP or another appropriate professional before, alongside or instead of our work together.

I do not guarantee specific therapeutic outcomes. Results vary between individuals.
I am not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from information withheld by the client.

My total liability to any client in any circumstances is limited to the fees paid for the session(s) in question.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Where sessions are delivered remotely via Zoom or another agreed platform, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
You are responsible for providing a private, safe, and quiet environment free from interruption.
You will not drive or operate machinery during or immediately after an online session.
Sessions will not be recorded by either party without the explicit written consent of the other.
In the event of a technical failure during a session, I will attempt to reconnect. If reconnection is not possible, a replacement session will be offered at a mutually agreed time.
I am committed to providing a professional and high-quality service. If you have any concerns about your treatment or any aspect of the service you have received, I encourage you to raise this with me directly in the first instance. I will endeavour to resolve any complaint promptly and fairly.
If you remain dissatisfied following direct discussion, you may refer your complaint to my professional body: The International Hypnotherapy Association (IHA): www.iha-hypnotherapy.org
I reserve the right to update or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. The version in force at the time of your booking applies. The current version is always available on the website. Continued use of my services following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or from the provision of services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
